@SVN rev 239376 on 2012-08-18 22:59:06Z by marcel

Remove support for SKI: HP's Itanium simulator. It's pretty much not
used, serves very little value given that FreeBSD runs on real H/W
for a long time.
Note that SKI is open-source (see http://ski.sourceforge.net), so
if there's interest and value again, then this code can be revived.

Provide groundwork for 32-bit binary compatibility on non-x86 platforms,
for upcoming 64-bit PowerPC and MIPS support. This renames the COMPAT_IA32
option to COMPAT_FREEBSD32, removes some IA32-specific code from MI parts
of the kernel and enhances the freebsd32 compatibility code to support
big-endian platforms.

log
@SVN rev 206336 on 2010-04-07 02:24:41Z by nwhitehorn

MFC r205014,205015:

Provide groundwork for 32-bit binary compatibility on non-x86 platforms,
for upcoming 64-bit PowerPC and MIPS support. This renames the COMPAT_IA32
option to COMPAT_FREEBSD32, removes some IA32-specific code from MI parts
of the kernel and enhances the freebsd32 compatibility code to support
big-endian platforms.

This MFC is required for MFCs of later changes to the freebsd32
compatibility from HEAD.

## SVN ## MFC r242625:
## SVN ##
## SVN ## Remove duplicate const specifiers in many drivers (I hope I got all of
## SVN ## them, please let me know if not). Most of these are of the form:
## SVN ##
## SVN ## static const struct bzzt_type {
## SVN ## [...list of members...]
## SVN ## } const bzzt_devs[] = {
## SVN ## [...list of initializers...]
## SVN ## };
## SVN ##
## SVN ## The second const is unnecessary, as arrays cannot be modified anyway,
## SVN ## and if the elements are const, the whole thing is const automatically
## SVN ## (e.g. it is placed in .rodata).
## SVN ##
## SVN ## I have verified this does not change the binary output of a full kernel
## SVN ## build (except for build timestamps embedded in the object files).

1.3
log
@Introduce IA64_ID_PAGE_{MASK|SHIFT|SIZE} and LOG2_ID_PAGE_SIZE. The
latter is a kernel option for IA64_ID_PAGE_SHIFT, which in turn
determines IA64_ID_PAGE_MASK and IA64_ID_PAGE_SIZE.

The constants are used instead of the literal hardcoding (in its
various forms) of the size of the direct mappings created in region
6 and 7. The default and probably only workable size is still 256M,
but for kicks we use 128M for LINT.
